The first one that comes to mind is when I got underwear for Christmas. But the same Christmas, I got one of the American Girl dolls from my grandma. I haven't played with dolls since I was about seven years old. I outgrew them very quickly.
Then there was the time I was given the gift of the sad fact that my grandma must be going senile.
I was given the same book, same edition, two years in a row. When I thanked her, she said, "Yes, I thought that looked like something you'd like, but I wasn't sure."
The first year my mom and stepdad were married she (Mom) recieved footie PJs.
But the absolute WORST was when I was not told my dad had gotten back together with one of his exes, and on my birthday card she had signed it.
What a way to find out.
