Hi I am new here. Had a first time experience. My daughter and I were making pancakes and after she cracked an egg I heard, "OH MY WHAT! What IS THAT?" I followed her with the same words lol. Unfortunately, it looks like a worm larvae and not a baby chicken. What exactly is this, and how did it get Inside the egg? Should I report this to the small store who buys 'fresher eggs' from locals? TIA

It does indeed look like a round worm. Sometimes when chickens are very infested with worms, they can show up in the eggs. If it feels firm, instead of squishy, you can bet that it's a round worm. you should alert the people you bought the eggs from.

I would think that if they are infested bad enough to show up in an egg,
you would have been seeing them in their poops.

Is the white in the pics a reflection of light....
....and the bug in questions is the brown larval looking thing?

Am curious now and will google round worm larvae.

ETA: I don't think worms have a larval stage, and are just smaller in size after hatching from their eggs.
That looks like an insect larvae....what it is and how it got there is beyond me, need an entomologist.
