That is a valid point. The only instrument that has been calibrated is my Fluke 87V for temperature. The hygrometer on the unit reads about 6%/10% high and I am using a Chinese made Accutemp for humidity levels. I have checked the Accutemp accuracy by comparing the humidity reading with my old German made hygrometer and it's within +/- 1%. To be honest, I would have never bought this unit if it were at a store and I got to put my hands on it before purchase. Although, after the fact I have to say it is keeping better temperature than I thought it would (0.7 F. variation during cycle). The functions are very basic but responsive to calibration. I already have a plan to build one using the faults and needed improvement of this incubator.
