What's with my barred rocks' tails?

I have two barred rocks from two different feed stores, about a week apart in age (5-6 weeks old). One has a rounded, droopy kind of tail like my RIR and EE, and the other has a tall, straight tail like my White Leghorn. What gives? Are these just differences because of the loose standards typical for feed store/hatchery chicks? Here are the chickies, Princess Laya (top, rounded tail) and Sue Flay (bottom, straight tail):

(Never mind the White Leghorn in the background of the first picture pretending like she has a droopy tail; her tail is usually tall and straight up.)
Thanks for any comments.

That first one looks just like my barred rocks, with the short stumpy tail. (sort of like the end of a banana), the second looks dramatically different. much more game like. i'd say it's just the differences in the genetics in the feed store chicks though.

The truth of it is they are not pure barred rocks. They are mixed and can be loosly called barrred rocks. The top pick looks more easter egger than barred rock to me with those green legs. What you have is a production chickens will be a great layer.
