these are one of our own chicks we hatched and I noticed this is the only one with feet like this. Anyone want to take a stab at this one? Buff Orpington is the father and the hens are Black and Blue Cochins.
Polydactyly is a dominant trait which means that it will show up again and again once the gene is in your flock. There are silkie genes running around in there somewhere. I agree that someone was probably crossing a cochin and silkie.
I will in the morning, I was going to look at the girls, see who the guilty one is. there were not any Silkies here unless it was prior before we got the hens. I did read something on the Silkies about their feet but not since the hens have been here.
