Whats with the poop

Ok my 8 quail are growing fast and eating and drinking like crazy , I have raised many a bird chickens love birds coktiels ect , but I have never ever ever had a bird that pooped so much

I can change there paper and give them fresh food and water and within 2 hours the food and water are gone and ther paper is coated with poop.

Is this normal

has my home been taken over by little aliens or what

LOL they honestly pooo no different than any other bird in my experience. You say paper is that what you're using as thier bedding? if so, i'd consider changing to atleast shreaded paper or aspen bedding or even wire flooring it will make a huge change and keep the birds a bit cleaner

yeah mine do alot of pooping as well. when i switched to a wire floor it helped a bunch. i love the quails, they're adorable!

I normally use hay or straw as bedding after they are a week old or so but I ran out and coudnt afford more and so I used paper towels and then for the last day newspaper cause i was really getting down to the nitty gritty, I have them on hay now I walked down to the feed store and got a HUGE bag of it you hsould have seen the looks I got from people walking down the side walk obviously exhusted and carrying a Really big black yard debrie garbage bag.
