its called bumblefoot,i had/have one with it. there is lots of info on here about it if you search. i just keep pulling that hard scab like covering off, which is gross, and cleaned it out, then put triple antiboitic on it. it came back a few times, but has seemed to clear up. good luck im sure you will get lots of help,it seems like a pretty common chicken thing.

I've put antiseptic spray on - will try and pull it off later when my mam gets back to help

Sometimes repeated soakings help to loosen that. Behind it is usually a "plug" of firm matter that must be removed for the foot to heal. It is actually a staph infection resulting from an injury of some sort. There is a lot of information on this site on exactly how to treat this.
Good luck!

what is the treatment as i've done a quick google search and its going on about baytril which i can't get a hold of

A big yellow hard lump came out attached to the scab, it was bleeding so i sprayed some savlon spray in the wound and added some antibacterial powder to stop the blood, I don't think I got anything out though, but thats all i could do before my mam started feeling faint, will have to get my dad to help me tomorrow once i've been and bought some better antibacterial spray
