So, you calibrated that? Because you can't just go by what the machine says as they are notorious for being wrong. My humidity wasn't above 61 in lockdown and not 50 before that. It was at 70 when he hatched

Also, I can see that you don't have anything on the bottom of the incubator to keep chicks from slipping. If they don't have some kind of slip resistant flooring than they will get slipped tendons and will never be able to walk either.
2 hygrometers in there. So, you calibrated that? Because you can't just go by what the machine says as they are notorious for being wrong.

Any other expertise to offer? I'm new but can read. Humidity may be culprit but our humidity was lower than many others standard at lockdown. Anything else cause this?Pipped on day 20 to 21 now is day 22
What happened with the rest of your hatch? Were the other eggs early or late pipping and hatching? Knowing what happened to the rest of the hatch might help us understand better. When something goes wrong I try to determine if it is an individual problem or a flockwide or hatchwide problem. Can someone tell me why it looks like this?
It will probably pass on it's own. If it doesn't I just use scissors to snip off the head at the neck. Sorry if that's too graphic. I get everything positioned, look the other way, snip the neck and drop it into the trash. It is very quick and they don't suffer. In the beginning I put a little napkin over their head so I didn't have to see anything either.Any other expertise to offer? I'm new but can read. Any suggestions to make him comfortable or best way to cull in your opinion?
Thanks. I did intend to get shelf liner then forgot. We did our first hatch in identical incubator chicks were perfect so it didn't seem as pertinentSometimes things go wrong because they go wrong. It's nobody's fault. Things go wrong even with the perfect parameters.
Just let the chick be, if you're afraid to touch don't touch. The chick will either recover or die, just give it a chance. In nature it happens all the time. Don't feel bad about it, these things happen to the best of us.
He was a lone egg. We had a few others but none were fertile in that group. Different hen. I hatched in identical incubator few weeks ago maybe 2 this one's full siblings and they were perfect. This one was just weird. I posted early in day worried about the way he was pipping. What happened with the rest of your hatch? Were the other eggs early or late pipping and hatching? For whatever reason that chick hatched before it absorbed the yolk. It is not supposed to happen that way but sometimes it does. I cannot give any better advice than you have already received. That's not why I am posting. I'm more interested in looking at why it happened and if you need to do anything different next time.
No I had a rooster for a short while. My other hens didn't love him yet so I didn't expect a lot. This eggs hen was paired up with rooster and 2 chicks I hatched from them couple weeks back were and are great. It will probably pass on it's own. I usually hatch all my chicken eggs at 50% humidity. Were these eggs shipped?
