No, she is actually really mature. I would say she is at least 3 years old. I purchased her a year ago and the woman i got her from didnt know how old she was.

One or two look like "body checked" eggs.

Do the best you can to see that she is eating/drinking well, has oyster shell free choice and that her stress level is kept fairly low. As hens get older it can become harder to expel/lay eggs and it's not uncommon for laying issues to arise. http://www.thepoultrysite.com/publications/1/egg-quality-handbook/

Great question! Every chicken is going to lay eggs that have some abnormality to them. It doesn’t usually happen very often but it does occur. Even commercial birds lay these odd eggs; it’s just that you never see those eggs since they are not the expected shape. Those eggs go to a different part of the industry in which egg shape doesn’t matter. Since you see most of the eggs that come out of your hens, you are going to notice that not all eggs are uniform.

The abnormalities tend to show up more often in hens that are coming in to production and for those that are approaching the end of a laying cycle (older hens). Early on, the hormones aren’t quite right, so you get some interesting looking eggs. As the hens age, abnormalities reappear because the reproductive tract is getting older and out of shape. If your hen is at least 3 years old, then she is approaching a time in her life that the eggs are more likely to be abnormal than the expected appearance. Illness can sometimes play a role in egg abnormalities as can nutritional deficiency. As long as the shell is still intact, there is nothing wrong with eating what’s inside the egg. If the shell is cracked, then you are best to throw that egg away as it may be contaminated with unwanted bacteria.
