Hi, I dont know whats wrong with my chickens. They were out in the rain last week. I think a couple of them got a cold. Some of them were sneezing. I think it was a sneeze, anyway. Kinda sounded like a goose honk or quack. Now I notice these things on some of the chickens. They free range and are given a starter/grower feed twice a day. They also get kitchen scraps every now and then. Since they free range, I am not sure of the substance of the droppings. They are 21 1/2 weeks old. I have not noticed any lethargy or anything. They are not laying yet. Please help.

Are there any watery eyes? Watery noses? It looks like a bad infection. Is there anything else you noticed? Weight loss? Eating habits? I don't want to wrongly diagnose them so I need more information. I hope we can help you help them feel better! :)

all I have noticed is what I mentioned. otherwise they seem healthy. eating and drinking normally. temps have been in the 90s, last week was rainy, and the week or 2 before that was in the 100s. I thought maybe and infection from being pecked, but I havent noticed any fighting, either. I have one pullet that was beat up by my game hen, but the game hen has been in lockdown since then.

All 36 of my birds have it too. Some are covered and other have just a spot or two but they all have it.

From what Ive read there are two forms of this pox and I'm pretty sure that mine have the same kind that yours does and thats they dry form. There is another worse kind that goes into their sinuses and throats that causes problems with them not being able to eat or drink. Mine seem ok. I just hope that it doesnt get worse. I really dont want to end up loosing birds. I really care about them.

What I havent read anywhere is the answer to this question: Are the eggs safe to eat if the birds have pox?
