What's wrong with my goose

I am worried about my goose, she is suddenly acting strange. After more than a week that she has not been looking for her mate she seems to be looking. She is not really eating and she is flapping her wings all the time. As I said I just sort of "inherited" her with the house we are renting. So, I so not even know if hormones can play a roll as it is the beginning of summer here in South Africa and the last few days has been warm. Can she just be warm? She is not swimming in her pool though. Sorry I am totally clueless and very paranoid that something may be wrong as I do not know anything about Geese.

No it does not look like it. She is plucking on her feathers a little bit though.

Also could you explain what you mean by her not looking for her mate for more than a week?

It’s definitly a goose, possibly an embden or a mixed breed.

I’m glad there are goose droppings in the picture, those look very normal which indicates that the goose is generally in good health.

I can’t tell if it’s a male or a female though.

Is the flapping while running around? that can be a form of playing.

Also you said it wasn’t eating, have you seen them eat at all, or are they eating less than usual but still eating occasionally?

He, or she? Is mostly eating grass and we a small amount of layer pellets as a treat and some broccoli and cauliflower stems etc. also as a treat. I heard we must mix the layer pellet with wheat so we will get some wheat. It is only starting to rain now so the grass is not very good yet, and when we saw the owner doing nothing we decided to just "adopt" him and started feeding him little treat after I checked that it is not toxic. We think his mate could have been killed by an intruder. The Ver said this one's wing was pretty sore, but after a pain injection and treatment the wing seems fine. It is very possible that I am simply being obsessive, but it is difficult if you suddenly have to care for an animal you know nothing about. I do tend to be a little OCD

It’s not strange, taking care of the goose shows you have a kind heart.
As long as the goose is eating and has access to water at all times and isn’t showing more signs of illness I think they should be fine.
If they are refusing to eat or seem lethargic and are hardly moving they should see a vet.
