I went out to check on my girls and I noticed one was not outside with the rest. I saw her laying on the ground of the coup and thought that maybe she was gearing up to lay her first egg. (They are about the age to start.) It's been about 2 hours so I went to check on her again and she was still laying there, but this time looked pretty bad - Her eyelid was shut and she didn't open it until I touched her. She didn't even protest when I picked her up, which is very odd as she's pretty flighty. I put her back down because I wasn't sure if this is what laying a very first egg looks like - I didn't want to disturb her any further if that's what it is.
Is this too vague to diagnose? What should I do?
