Whats wrong with my sebright?

Just jumping in with my opinion here- you may want to consider sending off one of the deceased birds to see exactly what it died from. The condition of your barn may have something to do with the deaths of course but with at least two that showed signs of mareks you may want to make sure. Research a bit more on Mareks too because you posted that you had lost birds to Mareks before. Are you keeping these new chickens in the same area as the previous ones? I've read that Mareks is almost impossible to get rid of. I apologize if this sounds harsh but please try to find out what is going on before giving more money for chicks that are getting a death sentence.

I have had a chick survive mereks but my she is not with my others. Most of my bird are mereks vaccinated. Only the ones I hatched recently didn't get it cause I ran out at the time. Kana was not one of my hatched chicks. I got her from tsc. One of my chicks did have mereks but I treat her right away with the st Johns wort stuff and she hasn't had it since. Still keeping her separated though. I don't like chancing things. I have two coops. One in the barn and one outside (my first, and better coop) all of my Ameraucana chicks and white rocks and mixed breeds are in there. The rest are in the barn.

I did fix the moisture problem and everything is great! No one is sick and everyone is happy! Made a chicken tractor for my hens in the barn. Most don't like the outdoors but they need the sun and need grass! Can't wait to build my new coop! Going to have my breeding pairs in there eventually. I only have 3 pairs. There's also two pens that I have wanting. A largefowl pen and a bantam pen.

I'm so excited but the only chick I am having a problem with is my silver laced OEB. I think she has some sort of separation enxiety. Since shadow died, she won't eat and won't drink. She has become very cuddley... she never let me touch her before. I have been with hers for hours every night lately and she looks a little better. Still worried about her. Her brother and sister died so I can't even imagine how she feels right now. Pray for her please? I am.

Well I wont ever want mareks in my new coops. Luckily only 2 had meraks and did not get to go into the large coop. I have to bleach my cages now. If I EVER wants to have an NPIP chick buisness It has to go. The new coops will help greatly. Any of the meraks chickens (even been near them or were caged with them) will be in a different pen on my other property. They are all really good healthy chickens and I will never put them down.

Any ideas on where mareks came from?

Did you not read the post Nambroth did? She wrote "As for where it came from... it can come in on carrier chickens, on your shoes, hair, or clothes if you visited somewhere that had a carrier chicken or a person that owns chickens in it (auctions, shows, feed stores, other farms, etc), it can be 'tracked' in on wild birds if those same birds visited an area that had infected chickens (such as a dusty barn with chickens, etc), or even on the wind as it is carried in tiny dander particles"

It seems impossible to avoid Marek's as to all the ways it can be transmitted. So sad.

Well... I did go to a couple auctions... I am going to mount hope auction... I guess I will wear clothes i will BURN and shoes that I can get from goodwill.

Better yet, just don't go at all lol! Auctions give me the heebie jeebies in regards to transmission of diseases!
