Whats wrong with my sebright?

So any ideas on my last silver (not sebright) old english bantam? She wont eat and she only wants to walk around and stare at a wall! She looks like how my first hen died! SEPARATION! How do I help this!? She doesnt get along with anyone...

One problem after another....

Shelby,
Is it real cold in Ohio right now? I'm in Ne. and my Sebright is not enjoying the cold weather I'm afraid. She is moving slow and not eating like she usually does. I think I'm going to have to bring her inside and maybe put her on my back porch. It's usually around 50 out there but it's better then the coop. How do your Sebright's fare in cold weather? Maybe that doesn't help what you want to know about but I'm just trying to figure out what to do. Does your chicken stay outside? Maybe she isn't enjoying winter either.

Shelby, I started reading about your troubles late and am sorry to hear about your losses.

Free Feather, My Sebright isn't enjoying the cold. She normally is all over the place and very vibrant and now she is moving slowly and she and my Welsummer both slept in one of the egg boxes last night. I was going to get them out but decided it might better to leave them alone and let them snuggle in together. Supposedly Welies are cold hardy. I think someone needs to tell that to mine. It's only the start of cold weather here and now talking snow again so I need to figure out something different too. Good luck!

I lost my Sebright a couple of months ago. She was a very lively chicken and then cold weather hit and I should have paid more attention to her. She seemed fine at first but I think the weather got the best of her. I should have brought her in. Is your Sebright outside or somewhere where it's not so cold. I don't know what would be wrong with your bird. I should have paid better attention to mine. Vet rx seems to be the thing people go to for sick chickens. I tried it on one of my chickens that had a respiratory problem going on and it worked for her. Hope your Seb. get better soon!

Free feather, How did it end up going with your Sebright? I know it's been awhile but I just got on her and saw your post about supplemental heat. Did it work? I wish I had done that also. I lost 2 chickens to the cold weather. Now I know why I haven't been on this thread for awhile. To sad about my Sebright and Wellie! My Sebright was a beautiful bird.

Dove was doing better with the cold. She would not venture much out of the warm coop, but she adapted to the weather better than I thought she would. Unfortunately, my dog killed her. I miss her so much... she was my favorite chicken. I will never forget her. I am sorry you lost your Sebright, too.

Free feather, that's sad about your Sebright. I have been lucky so far. I have one neighbor that I'm concerned about. He has one dog that gets loose every now and then and our place is the first place he goes. I keep thinking I should probably have a club or something handy. I hate stories where people have their whole flock wiped out by a dog. Someone I know had 20 some chickens wiped out. I would be furious because people don't realize how much time and work we put into chickens not to mention lot's of them are pets. Sorry about your bird.
