I have two flocks. The older flock pecks and picks at each other incessantly. The other does not at all.
Yesterday I saw one of the bullies come up behind another bully/picky bird, and she pecked in an area of the other's back that elicited a squat. Once she had the other bird squatting, she proceeded to pick feathers on the back of the squatting bird, despite the squatter squawking at her. I had not seen this behavior before, but now that I have, I made sure the picker got another set of pinless peepers on. I think this type of thing happens all the time. We just aren't there at the right time to see it.
