she was fine at about 5 weeks old. We took her from the brooder in the house and put her in a bigger one in the barn. A few days after she started walking funny and she can't straighten her legs out which keeps her off balance. Anyone know what would cause this or can it be fixed. Also noticed her toes are really bent.

I am going through the same thing with my one week old chick!!! I don’t know what to do about the leg itself, you should quarantine from others immediately! You do not want the others to bump into her or mess with her! You may want to section her inside the broader so that she will keep warm! Try feeding her and giving her water to see if she eats and drinks, if she does then this is a very positive sign!!! Now you need to watch to see if she poops, that is just as important if not more so than eating and drinking! She needs a small warm space so that she will not be tempted to try and run around

She doesn't really move a whole lot. When she moves she gets really wobbly and almost falls. She does eat when we help her but she can't lean over. We have her food raised up and she is pooping. She has been like this since about week 5 and they are about 8 weeks now. I thought it was spraddle at first but she was to old when this started I think. Not sure what else to do to help her. Just feel really bad for her.

She was eating medicated until she was 6 weeks old. I did notice that a couple of the other chicks had crooked toes so food could be a possibilty
She is eating organic chick grower feed now
Crooked toes are a lot of times genetic, if you are noticing it in other chicks - are they all the same breed?

What % is the organic grower? Is it fresh, what' the mill date?

Photos of her poop?

At her age, Marek's is a possibility, but her 1/2 closed eyes, ruffled/unkempt appearance I would look at Coccidiosis as well.

Could be a combination of things - so while you may be focusing on the bent toes, something else could be at play too.

Thank you for your knowledge. It looks and sound like coccidiosis. I checked all the things referring to mareks and it doesn't seem to be that. I'm separating her from the flock now and going to try a dose of medication. Do you recommend anything?
