We have 2 Black Copper Marans and a Lavender Orpington (about 9 weeks old) in quarantine together. Today we noticed one of the Black Copper Marans was really lethargic and sleepy. I was able to pick up really easily when usually it puts up a bit of a fight. It even fell asleep in my lap! We were worried so we brought it inside and have it in a kitty carrier for now. We got a picture of it's poop as well (ignore the food it's thrown all around):

Any ideas?

Mareks disease causes lethargy and lameness in chicks I've lost a couple of chicks to it :-( also worth takin the faeces to a vets they can do a flotation to check for parasites etc??!!

When it's walking around it's fine. No lameness that I have noticed. Thanks for the idea of a float test though!

I've lost three to mareks now and only one of them went lame, the other two just became lethargic . Hopefully it isn't mareks but its age suggests it is a possibility. Fingers crossed!

It could be cocci. They don't always have to have blood in their stool when they have this. It sounds like that's would it could be... If you think that's what it might be it wouldn't hurt them to treat them. You can treat them with Corid. ,corid powder 1/2 tsp per gallon, Corid liquid 2 tsp per gallon. Treat all chicks,do not give vitamins during treatment, give vitamins after treatment is complete.

My husband thought it might be worms so we gave her some medication late last night and she has perked up today. Her poop is still not back to normal, but much less green. We took her outside for a bit and she actually ran around chasing bugs. So fingers crossed that that's what it is! Oh, we also noticed her crop was almost empty yesterday, but today it's back to a normal size.

Here she is today, roosting on my hand:
