"What's wrong with this egg" Redux - should I eat it?

Would that be the "misshapen" example? It's the only thing that's close, though mine is much more misshapen!

One thing that looks different about those compared to mine is they look soft, whereas my shell is rock hard.

The article says "Disturbances causing eggs to be laid before calcifi cation of the shell is complete", so there is probably a lot of variation in the end product. I'm not an expert, just trying to give you a resource to use for research. Hope it helps.

"drill" a small hole in each end and blow hard thru one hole till the innards comes out...just like when we were kids....(or was I a weird kid?), then scraamble the innards for your flock

I wouldn't eat it!!!! J/k- I get some horribly ugly eggs like that once in a while from my oldest girl. They're completely normal on the inside.

We've had a single rubber egg. It was dropped under the roost and was dented. We didn't eat it because it was covered in poo. Usually, if this happens, it's at the beginning of the egg laying cycle. No idea which one did it, and haven't had another since in the last few weeks. I wouldn't be concerned unless you get a lot of them regularly. Fwiw, ymmv.
