I don't have it complete yet, but this will be the foundation for one of my new brooders that I hope to be able to use both inside the garage as well as outside in the backyard when the weather gets warmer. It is a "raised" garden bed. Haha.
Metal, so easier to defend from predators. Also easier to clean and sanitize. And zero fire hazard from the brooder itself catching fire. Can take it apart when not in use. Pretty much just going to strap some hardware cloth to make the sides taller and then figure out how I want to enclose the "roof". Open bottom, so I can choose what I want to line it with and not worry about needing to clean it. Can just toss the cardboard/shavings or puppy pee pads or whatever.
If I get real fancy, I will probably drill some holes into the sides to mount some PVC that I can then raise and lower to regulate temperature of hanging heat lamps. Another benefit of it being metal is it should hold up to some weight/stress from the bolts.
