What's Your Chickens names and Why are they named that?

10 girls. 6 adults 4 eight week old pullets, we try for names that desribe their personality. Usually we have multiple names at first for each of them, but then one sticks:

Feisty--RIR, totally feisty!
Shy Girl--Black Australorp. The queen of our flock, gracious and polite.
Yellow--Black Autralorp (originally had yellow face, but then became our "chicken (afraid)" chicken, so "yellow" it was.
Squash Blossom--she is a lover, Buff Orpington! So sweet. Total Lap chicken.
Snowy--clearly a common one for white chickens, but my boyfriend had a snowy when he was little, so we had to have one too!
Saffron--beautiful Isa Brown

Pullets:

onsense--black sex link
Friendly Penquin--Barred Rock
Freckles--Barred Rock
Pepper--Barred Rock

Cotton= Our Dark Cornish Bantam.

Praline= Dark Cornish Hen Bantam because when she was little her coloring looked like Praline IceCream.. My mom named her actually. Because one day I was showing my mom them over the web cam and she said " She looks like Praline IceCream."

Peanut- Dark Cornish Hen Bantam. not sure why my daughter named her Peanut.

Peachy- Our Black Australorp Hen. Because when she was tiny she had all white fuzz all around her. I guess it reminded Luella( my six year old Daughter) of Peach Fuzz.

Grapey R.I.P Black Australorp Hen. Not sure why Luella named her Grapey, but shes still upset over losing Grapey to a cat..

Now we're going to get three more Black Australorps Chicks not sure what we will be getting so Im trying to come up with unisex names.. Then at the same time we will be getting Three more Rare Breed Chicks, I know those ones will be hens.. Not sure what breeds were getting so this should be interesting. I think my daughter has names picked out for those one. I hope that they arrive safely and that we dont lose any cause that would suck..

I have 4 EE chicks, supposedly pullets:

Squeak- as in, pip-squeak. She still is the smallest, and was very sleepy and happy to stay under the lamp as a chick. She has slate feet and is feathering out black and gray. And is fiesty!!

Bossy- she has yellow feet and her fuzz was yellow striped on her hread as a chick. Very bossy. End of story.

Pook and Pumpkin- look pretty much the same. Slate feet, feathering out orangey-brown and black, very pretty. Named with the boys' nicknames when they were babies.

My other three were already names:

Curly is the BA roo- has cool curly tail feathers.
Bella- looks like a speckled sussex. Seems pretty firendly, very independent, love to free-range and is first for treats.
Mimi Girl- a NH red, I think. Very noisy and Curly's fave.

I just added 8 new barred rock gals to my flock of 10 hens. We named them Yolanda, Tawana, ReeRee, C.C, Mo'Nique, Lafawnduh, Carmen, & ShQueeta. We named them after a group of black girls that I attended school with back in the 80's.

We have a coop filled with Country Stars:

Lucinda, Black Copper Marans
Patsy, Cuckoo Marans
Reba, Wheaten Marans
Shania, Golden-laced Wyandotte
Tanya, Silver-laced Wyandotte
Loretta, Speckled Sussex
Crystal, Speckled Sussex

We're still looking for: Emmy Lou, Dolly, Tammy, Minnie Pearl, Martina, June, and Maybelle.
If we get something unusual (Polish or Frizzle), we might name them Cher & Madonna

The name of the Chicken House is The Ryman Coop (Grand Ol' Opry reference).

Hedwig-BR (DH's Grandmother)
Norma-RIR (RIP) (my Grandmother)
Mrs. Jennings-EE (character from Sense and Sensibility
Mrs. Bennett-RIR (character from Pride and Prejudice)
Margaret, Mary Anne, Eleanor-BR (characters from Sense and Sensibility)
Marilyn Monroe and Rose(Golden Girls)-BO

So far lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 RIR's:

Frenchi - I love French Toast
Henrietta - named by the friend that help build my coop
Noodles - I love to make home-made egg noodles
Souffle - never had one, but it's made out of eggs, and thought it was a pretty name.

BTW, when they were fluffy butts, I could tell them apart. Not anymore. It's a guessing game going by their personalities...lol

Mister Hanky (production red cockerel) - named him that after the character on south park... he wasn't so nice w/the girls after we got rid of all the other cockerels so I named him after a turd but that only lasted a couple of days he's pretty good now

Griselda - Black Australorp
Mrs. Fuzzybunz - Buff Orpington (kinda hoping it doesn't turn out to be MISTER Fuzzybunz)
Lady Godiva - Buff Orpington (I hope her eyes stay blue she's so cute)
Fiji - (trying to get over the fact that it's not a barred rock lol) Dominique or BR/Dominique cross... I don't know but it doesn't have a single comb

Laverne & Shirley - 2 production reds that are always together
Ivy - Production red
Annie - production red

Edited because I just named one of them... HAH!

I haven't named all the new birds, yet.
2 JG hens- Blackjack and Cokey (my favorites)
3 Wyandotte hens- Dinner (my problem child), Rosebud, and Number Three (no personality to this bird at all)
2 EE pullets- Chipmunk (everyone's favorite) and Fancy Face
3 GSL pullets- Aphrodite, Persephone and Ariel
1 RIR cockerel- Z (short for Tetrazinni)
2 RIR pullets- Doppelganger (looks just like a BO with yellow legs), unnamed
4 BO pullets- Cacciatore (slow blooming male, I think), the rest unnamed
2 BR pullets- Speckles and Freckles
Then I have the waterfowl.
1 Toulouse goose- Frenchy
10 Khaki Campbell ducks- One through Ten

Most of the laying hens get real names, but the roosters and any problem birds are named after the meals they will become. Geese are mostly named after the holiday at which their carcass will be gracing the table. The ducks are interchangeable and nearly impossible to tell apart, so they are just numbered.
