What's Your Chickens names and Why are they named that?

We have 4 Dominique hens: Black Betty, because she had the most black on her as a chick, and I love that song! Ziva for the awesome character on NCIS, our favorite show. TJ (Teresa Junior) because my husband says she reminds him of me--she is kind of a bully to the chicks below her in pecking order, so I'm pretty sure that's not a compliment.... And Tink, which is my husband's all-time favorite pet-name for all little girls. Tink almost died as a chick, and we spend a lot of time nursing her, so she has a special place in our hearts. We also have 1 Silver-Laced Wyandotte, named Pearl, because I thought she was going to be a lot more silver than she turned out to be, and an Australorp named Luna, because the first time we fed her, she got "food drunk" and just ran in circles around the other chicks like she was orbiting. My husband had started calling her Satellite, and I had to think of something else fast before it stuck, so I said she was a lunatic, thus shortened to Luna!

Jimmy: our only rooster... acts just like hunny's ex brother in law and always runs away from my hunny Jeff whenever Jeff goes into the pen. So he got named Jimmy after the crazy ex brother in law.

Mamma: She is a barred rock hen that we got. She apparently had a problem with her eyes but with medicine she is now able to see shadows. She always comes to the door of the pen whenever she hears my voice and when I am in the pen she rubs against my leg wanting picked up and cuddled. She still walks funny due to her sight being almost gone.

Then there is my group of mud puppies: These are my 6 Rouen ducklings that are in a cage in the living room until they are big enough to go outside with the other ducks. They are messy messy messy so got nicknamed Mud Puppies...

Then there are the two Emma girl's : Narangansett turkey hens that came with the name emma but couldn't tell which one was emma and who the other was.

Blue: The blue slate turkey hen.

Tom: Narangansett tom

count Choco: The chocolate turkey tom

Ours aren't too original:

Barred Rock- 'Barrack'
White Americana- 'Whitey Boulger' (were in Massachusetts) or 'Gretel'
Gold Americana- 'Golden Hawk' or 'Hansel'
Speckled Sussex- 'Speckled'
Dominique- 'Dominator'
Leghorn- 'Gertrude'

We have four production reds. We got them as chicks, so their names changed as their appearance changed. But now they have names that have stuck.

FreeRange is the top of the pecking order and isn't afraid to stray by off herself and she's always the first to try a new treat.

RoadTrip flew into the cab of my truck without me knowing. I got a block down away before I noticed her.

Bugs is an expert fly catcher. She gets them right out of the air.

DustBath loves her dust baths! She ends up completely up-side down sometimes!

We have 4 one had a name before we got her.

We have two Rhode Island Reds

MOCHA - has darker brown feathers, and a dark brown swatch down the middle of her head, is the leader of our flock, the most curious and responsive.

SASSAFRAS - has a gorgeous light brown head, but is the bossy hen of the bunch, she likes to get her way, so her nickname will be Sassy.

Our 2 Barred Rocks

HOPSCOTCH - the 7 year old named her before we got her, she had the name picked out and picked the chick that fit it best.

PEEPER - The name is self explanatory, our most talkative chick.

I had an old black hen (mixed breed) who went broody so I got a dozen eggs from a lady at work. She got them from her mom, and had no idea what breeds they might be. Of the 12 eggs, only 3 hatched. 2 of those three died untimely deaths (free range hen dragging 3 chicks along behind her.) The 3rd chick that survived is in my avatar. She is now almost 7 years old. She grew these poofy tufts on her cheeks so we started calling her "Cheeks." I had no idea what an easter egger/ameraucana type chicken was. I just thought she grew weird feathers on her head for some reason! Now of course I know :)

Cheeks went broody so I got a dozen eggs from soneone else. 7 hatched and the only one I kept I named Berta, after Berta on 2 1/2 Men. Her personality is EXACTLY like Berta. Manly, rough, mean, attitude....LOL

I now have 15 chicks that are 6 weeks old. Every one is named but it would be too big of a post to go through the reasons. Here are their names though:

Darcy (Dark Cornish)
Vader (Dark Cornish)
Silver (Silver Spangled Hamburg)
Phoenix (Silver Spangled Hamburg)
Lacey (Silver Spangled Hamburg)
Wynona (Golden Laced Wyandotte)

Rosy (New Hampshire Red)
Chocobo (Cuckoo Maran)

Helen (Pekin hen)
Joe (Pekin Drake)
Lola (Pekin drake, soon to be culled)
Alex (Pekin duckling)
Faye (Pekin duckling)

The rest are pretty much un-named for various reasons. I have 4 other RIRs and 5 BSL that I can't tell apart so I didn't bother naming them.

We have one Aracauna Roo named RED. He has 3 gals: LISA (Aracauna) has been with him from the beginning, so she's the Queen.
Then we got JOLEEN (Aracauna) and RUBY (Rhode Island Red). I named them these names because "they came in to try to take Lisa's man".
Listen to some old country songs and you'll hear about them! Ha!

Also have 3 cats, (Cali, Solo, Paddle-Foot), 5 kittens belonging to Paddle-Foot, (Puss in Boots, Cheeto, Rico, Tiger, and Pip), and 6 fish, (no names for them).
