I'm new to chickens and hopeful to have more land someday to get more chickens (chicken math, ha!). What breeds are your favorite and why? Are they a meat, egg-layer, dual-purpose, or ornamental breed? What are your dream breeds?

(If you have a favorite other than chickens (like game birds or ducks) that's fine to say too!)

^i know you disagree but whatever^
ANYWAYS! Cochins are amazing. Super awesome all the way. My best chicken was a Partridge Cochin. Cochins are meat breeds I think, but she was just a pet and egg provider for my family. I have already posted a list of my dream flock, I'll have to go find it and post it here later.

Seramas are my favorite. Though if we're talking egg-laying and meat breeds I'd go with Black Australorps. Cochins aren't that bad either.

I don't have a favorite, I love them all.
So we're in agreement that I should own one of each? :p

Cochins (bantams) are what I got! Excited to see them grow.

I guess.

Red Jungle fowl . Contrary to some assumptions they can become quite tame . I had some that would take pecans out of my hand, so I trained them to jump up and take them from my mouth . I would hold the nut lightly in my teeth . They would take the nuts without touching my mouth .:yesss: Yumpin Yickens ! :ya
