I bake a lot using wheatberries that I grind into flour. Can I throw some out to the chickens as a scratch a couple days a week?

I think they would love them. Mine run to me when I throw out brown rice. It is jjust the plain grain, uncooked. They like it cooked also.

I mix up my own scratch: cracked corn; black oil seeds; red spring wheat berries; millet. The times I've offered it in a feed dish, the chickens pick out the wheat berries first. I am cautious about feeding hard grains; they are treats only. I always make sure my birds have access to some form of grit, especially in the winter months when they're not free ranging and/or the ground is covered in snow.
