I will keep him with the EE girls, maybe add some Ameraucana girls later. He was the only 1 of 4 WM eggs I had to hatch, will keep him away from the other color Marans I have. Such a sweet boy, hope he stays that way

In theory they should be blue/gray as chicks. Much darker than pure wheaten. And the combs will be different. Rosecomb is dominant to straight combs. If you get any straight combs they are probably from the old roo.

Hello Wheaten Marans breeders I really love this color variety. I would love to start breeding these birds. Here are some pictures of what I think are my best birds i would love and helpful critiques of my birds you have to offer.

The first three birds are six months old and came from Fitz Farm and the last two came from Cree Farms and are about 4 months old.
This cockerel has a thumb print on his comb and has brown leg feathering and has a lighter build.

I like this younger cockerel better he has better leg feathering and looks like he will have a heavier build.

This pullet is a blue wheaten.

Also could somebody post pictures of a hen that has the darkest colored chest that they would use in a breeding pen. I have a couple of pullets i'm not sure if I should use or not in my breeding pen.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
