Randy, I like the darker hens too, but what happens with their offspring? Too dark in the breast/body area? Do the darker hens harm or improve the cockerel offspring at all?

This new lay out for byc is a bit difficult to navigate. I have a question about the hens breast coloring, I have four hens that had evenly dark (a medium brown) breast color now after their first moult their breasts are a patch work of dark and light will they continue to get lighter as they age? I'll try to see if I have some good pictures to show the changes.

i am haveing a heck of a time navagating this new byc with my cellphone

I agree. If I open with the first link it takes me to page one of the thread. If I open with the second link it takes me to the actual posting page. Clicking on berkeleysprings takes me to Randy's profile page.

It will get better.

if their breasts are spotted and they have already molted they will most likely not get any lighter that's the reason I don't use dark hens in the hot days of summer I have noticed hens always lighten up on their backs but spotted breast last forever
