In general, Wheaten and Blue Wheaten Marans lay a pretty good egg color; Mine pictured above are normally just a tad darker than that, but they're tapering off for the season.

They're just like normal Marans though - Calm, quiet, heavy in build which offers a great dual purpose breed, non-aggressive Roosters, cold-hardy.

I love my Wheatens, especially Blue Wheatens, because they're so beautiful and a much more rare variety than Black Coppers. Also, they rank in egg color up with Black Coppers, unlike other color varieties.

WOW, you have some really nice lookin bird there!!!!!!
please, everyone post some more pics. i'm hoping to pick up 3 wheaten hens this weekend.

katy,
were your hens molting at the time the pics were taken?
the reason i'm asking is because i don't see the black/dark tail feathers...... just curious...
beautiful birds either way

Katy, where did your birds originate, what lines?

I love that your hens look so "round", it makes them all the more appealing!

I order W/BW Marans and this is the roo that I got. He is a year old and still growing strong. He doesn't look like a lot of other W/BW Marans that I have seen on here so I posted these pics for your thoughts and coments.
