I've been trying to find pictures of a hen that is both wheaten and barred, but can't seem to find any. Maybe my google-foo skills are just poor. I can find wheaten & barred rooster pictures, just not any for hens...

thanks in advance!

Do you mean a cross between Wheaten and barred? or do you mean a wheaten based barred? There is a big difference, a cross between a Wheaten hen(like salmon faverolle) with a barred rooster(barred rocks) would produce a cross that will be all black barred like barred rock hens, on the other hand barred wheaten hens will look like wheaten hens but with faint barring on body

Hi nicalandia,

I was meaning "wheaten based barred". I've read several places that they would look as you described, but have not been able to find any images online, except maybe a couple of images of some Shamo hens.

I've searched "Wheaten barred", "Wheaten Cuckoo", "Wheaten Crele", etc and have come up empty. Maybe there is another term to use?

I was hoping that someone might have a reference photo, or know where one was.

Thanks again!

You will not find many/if any as the males look like simple crele males but the hens look wahsed out, so the look is not quite as attractive as Crele based on e+ or crele based on eb.

Check into marraduna basque hens. Maybe you can find something.
I had one once that looked like a barred wheaton pattern.

.
Correct, they are wheaten and barred, but the males look columbian restricted so the females are wheaten barred columbian restricted too,

What about calico princesses?View attachment 1431918
The calico princess is topaz colored and its parents are the barred Rhode Island Red cockerel and a Sussex,

I wonder how their Barred Rhode Island Reds look like..
