I am going to sprout some wheatgrass for my hens...Any recommendations or methods that you have used that might be helpful???

Goodluck! Mine like wheat just sprouted - if I let it grow too long they only pick at it, but little sprouts are eaten with relish! So experiment to see how your girls like theirs.

Agreed with JaeG. Don't grow it too long. I feed mine out before the grass blade breaks through the sheath. I like to soak it for 4 - 5 hours (up to overnight) then rinse several times/day. If you have too much grain in your sprouting container, you will encourage mold. If you soak it too long, it will also mold or rot.
