This is Buttercup my Pekin Duck that cannot walk on his own, he is only 7-8 weeks old now. So, to this soft hearted old fart, he is worth giving a chance at life, as an indoor companion. He has always walked pigeon toed, tripping over his own feet. I feel that it is from poor breeding, there are no sores or weird looking problems. He has already taken to the water therapy a have for him twice a day and he just loves being in the same room with us. I am now working on a design for a wheel chair for him, he has use of his legs, but cannot support his weight, this started happening when he started gaining weight. He can only stand for a second or two then he falls down. He eats and drink with no problems and keeps himself very clean. With all the research I have read, I have only found one other wheelchair for a duck, but not the best design. Thinking of using Pex pipe and fittings, I have lots of these parts, so it would help on my tight budget. Using Pex Pipe would be light weight and easy for him to move around. Any ideas for designing the wheel chair would be grateful. Yea, try typing on a keyboard with a duck laying his head on your arm trying to sleep.

I'm still trying to find a wheelchair for my dad. 18 x 16 seat, 19 tall from floor, seminumatic back tires and big tires in front soft seat fold up armrests and removable/fold leg rests? Know of any?

I have seen videos on you tube of wheel chair for ducks and geese maybe try there.

Let me tell you Buttercup is adorable and you are very special for giving him a chance to be normal as possible.

Welcome to BYC where you will find many many soft hearted farts just like yourself :hugs

Hi. We got our Pekin when she was 4 mos old. She was severely pigeon toed and tripped over everything - which caused more injuries. We were able to correct about half of her problem by giving her B Complex vitamins and allowing lots of swim time to strengthen her legs and help her lose a little weight. First we had to teach her to swim - but that's another post lol. She's still pigeon toed in one leg and still trips on things occasionally, but so much better than she was. Are you giving Buttercup nutritional yeast or B Complex? It could really help.

You've probably already stumbled across Lemon the duck. Her pages may have some inspiration.

Isn't pex a little too flexible? (I used to work in a plumbing warehouse)
Maybe in short lengths it's ok.
cpvc might be a bit more rigid and I think the CTS fittings will fit if that's what you're using.
Keep us updated, you're awesome for doing this.
From one soft hearted slightly younger fart!

This is the best stuff orally 1ml daily
