Wheezing gasping chicken

Welcome To BYC

How is she doing?
How old is she?

Any symptoms of respiratory illness - mucous from the nostrils, bubbles or discharge from the eyes, facial swelling, coughing?

It's hard to know what's happening - wheezing and gasping - how long has she been doing that?

Look inside her beak for any obstruction, canker, mucous, etc.

Check her crop - is it fluid filled - could she have aspirated fluids?

Does she lay eggs - any swelling or feeling of fluid below the vent between the legs?

She died . We noticed wheezing when we went for eggs at noon. She was weak. No clue if she was still laying, too many to know which chicken lays what. 3 orphingtons(brown eggs) in same run along with leghorns(white eggs). Empty crop. Didn't see anything in her mouth. She was 2.5 years. Blue orphington. Thinking Gapeworm but I found nothing that indicated that other than gasping and wheezing and occasional head shake. We found nothing in her throat or her mouth. May treat soil and flock just in case. Thanks for the reply.

If there were no obvious physical symptoms other than gasping on its own, I'd be leaning towards heart failure. I've had it happen with one of the Cornish Broilers I was raising. Suddenly they were just taking long 'gasping' breaths, then suddenly died. Sorry for your loss :(
