I took my sleeping pill and other meds and they still haven't kicked in. Still wide awake. I'm worried about my Goldie. And the MIL is still awake in there calling for her dog. She has been extremely confused lately. DH moved the furniture around in the living room the other day and she has been confused since. She thinks we moved one minuted the next she thinks we're visiting. Then she thinks we're working on moving. ( I can see her point there) but we aren't moving. Then she starts in on the dogs, poor things. Just one thing after another constantly. I've had to get up and go in her room a few times in the past hour to try to tell her that the dogs are in bed.......their beds not our beds. Next thing she is calling her dog. then asks me again where is her dog.
I finally found out she took out her hearing aid. She wasn't hearing a word I was tring to say.
Maybe I am tired, I need to go and see to Goldie before I go to bed though. I need to put a heat light on her. I only use 60 watt bulbs in the house. 100 watt if it's real cold outside and I can't get it up to the right temp for new chicks. The front porch doesn't have heat. WE open the window when we go out there to smoke to avoid giving the chickens cancer. Or we go outside. The porch has been at it's lowest 63 degrees. Not too bad. We don't wear a jacket out there.
Oh Geez! I have people coming over to eat tomorrow. I should be cleaning instead of on here. Well I did find out what to do for Goldie at least.
Thanks to you, I'm confident I'll help her recoger.
One more stupid question. Should I put everybody in that pen on Oxide. Sorry if you already told me. My meds are just now kicking in and i'll have to go to bed but i'm writing this down so I don't forget in my sleepy induced state.
Until I can get the Oxide, I'll continue the duramyacin in the water, i'll fix her breakfast in bed of scrambled eggs with apple cinnamon oatmeal and a shot of vitamins to top it off. Then it will be back to bed for miss goldie
I would treat them all just in case, especially since you heard one sneezing. I feel bad for you with the MIL, my aunt with Alzheimers about drove me insane, would never shut up for a minute, even coming in my room at night. Thank heavens she is in a nursing home now. How is your pullet today? Deb
She is doing great. No more wheezing and she does have a sneeze every now and again but other than that she seems fine. I held her to my ear to listen for any crackling or noises from her lungs but heard none. I doubt phneumonia would cure that fast. I really thought I would loose her with all the trouble she was having breathing. I'm sure it's from the wet bedding. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get out there yesterday like I planned to remove the wet bedding and put down fresh dry. My simple shore of cookine a turkey turned in to an all day ordeal of cooking lots of stuff then guests coming over then left with all the clean up. By the time I finally stopped it was 1 am. There's nobody today to be here with the MIL and in her confused state of mind lately I can't leave her alone to go tend to the chickens.
She's been going on and on and on all morning about some man she said she saw and spoke to that saie he was in the attic working on the gas lines to get the gas turned on. That never happened. She's in desperate need of a new hearing aid. It was my nephew leaving to go to the doc this morning. In order to get to the attic they have to come into my room and crawl in the little opening in the closet to get in the attic. Plus I would know if somebody was coming to work on anything. The gas lines aren't in the attic. I asked her where he was coming from and she said the bathroom. It was my nephew leaving the bahroom and going out the front door to leave for his appt. She just misunderstood what he said and didn't recognize him. But she's been going on and on about it for 3 hours now.
I love her to pieces and we got her out of the nursing home to live with us. She has 11 kids and 115 great to great great grandkids and nobody will take care of her. Well nobody that doesn't want her check and meds anyway. So I take care of her and keep her meds locked up and one of her daughters takes care of the money part. It all works well this way, she just get confused because she ahs dementia and can't hear.
I got her on a program that has aids come out and help me 5 days out of the week and there is our nephew and DH (it's his mother) that help too. We have a good system working for us that helps her. That same program I got her on is going to widen 3 doorways so her wheelchair will fit thru and she won't beat her hands up, putting in either a shower stall that has a seat built in or they will put in hand rails in the shower area and put in a wheelchair ramp off the front porch so we can get her out easier. She uses a walker most of the time but it's very hard to get her out without the ramp.
She is normally a very sweet woman and deserves to spend her last years with her family. When her dementia is kicked in she does have a mean streak. I love her very much and deal with it. Sometimes a nerve pill helps me deal with it. Like today. That going on and on and on about something really gets on my nerves but like I said, I deal with it. My best way to get some peace is to be around my chickens. Unfortunately, today I can't leave the house unless my nephew gets here so I can.
He has issues himself so I can't leave him with her for very long either. He's a recovering Methadone addict and has started having DT's. I'll be taking him to a rehab hospital soon so he can completely and safetly finish getting off it. He's determined he's gonna get over it and turn his life around. He don't have alot of choice but to change his ways. In Jan he almost died because he got gangrene in his intestines because they died and he dind't get help till he couldn't take the pain anymore. When he was in surgery the doc almost just closed him up and kept him as comfortable as possible till he passed but he decided to look around to see if he could find any intestines that hadn't been ruined. While he was doing that his colon burst and spilled all it's rotten contents in his body cavity. But he did fine 2 foot of viable intestines. So he pretty much just has a tunnel going from his stomach to his............well you know where. He's suppose to ge on all knds of meds and some liquid stuff that provides all the vitamins and nutrients he needs but without insurance he can't afford any of it. He should have gotten his disability and insurance soon after he got out of the hospital but he's had nowhere to stay till he started staying here. He just found out wednesday he's got state insurance for behavioral health that came in effect a week ago. So he's gone today to try to get help. He got copies of his medical records from the surgery and it scared him silly. Didn't do anygood for his DT's but he realizes more how close he came to dying. He had drain tubes in him for 2 weeks draining out the green infection that was in his body cavity.
Well, I"m going on and on now. Gotta go. Thanks for asking about my pullet. I certainly hope when I can go check on my babies they aren't all sick. I have got to get that wet bedding out of there as soon as I can get somebody here to watch MIL.
I'll update how the others are. I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving.
