If you can see very obvious veining and then a sort of circular edge to them that looks a little like a blood ring, is that just the edge of the veins or is that the blood ring forming? As long as the veins are there, should I assume the egg is alive?

With veining you will often see a ring of veins right around where the air cell begins - that's normal.

With the ones i've had that formed blood rings, you could no longer see the veining at all, just the blood ring.

I have a weird egg too. Can see definite veining.... but the "chick" connected to the veins is only the size of my little finger from the first joint to the tip. All my other chicks take up 3/4 of the egg. Today is day 16 for me. Whats up with that?
