Is it typical, or conversely is it an indicator of certain cause of death, if a chicken dies and there is blood in one spot on its head? I remember when I was a kid I saw an otherwise intact bird that had died and had the same blood spot on the side of its head.

We found our silkie rooster dead this morning. He was only 11 months old He seemed fine yesterday. I'm trying to figure what might have happened.

Thanks for any ideas,

Laura

What did the rooster act like before this?
does any of the hens have a bloody discharge?
with the blood on the head or side of the head It would denote that he had some problem inside that bled out when he died

yes you can have a autopsy done to find out

to get the rest going I wouls use the
wet mash probiotic
1 qt od dry crumbles
2 qts of milk any kind
1/4 cup of yoguart
mix good and feed 3 tbsp per chicken so that they eat it in 20-30 minutes

also in the water put 2 tbsp of ACV to a gallon of water
then look the manure over as if it is wateery and has blood in it them you need to get going on the copccidiosis medication
the amproylium is best if you can get corid
then use it in the
medicated wet mash
1 qt dry crumbles
2 qts water
in the water put 1 tsp of amproylium
to get them going on the medication
and use the amproylium in the water also

you can email me PM for help
keep us posted to let us kno what happens on this

Thank you. Thw others appear to have normal/ non bloody stools, but I'm going to go re-examine.

I appreciate all the info, and feel relieved to have this guide.

He was acting completely normal- loving, sweet, his normal self.

Again, thank you.

One other thing: Is this typical? His vent was very open when we found him. He had been dead for about 20 hrs

Thanks,

Laura
