When are chickens no longer considered chicks? My banties are now 8 weeks old. They can also fly pretty darn well and one flew up into a tree last week.

My next question is: When do we clip their wings?

A pullet is a female chicken that is less than one year old. After that, they are hens.

A chick is often considered a pullet when most of it's feathers have come in, and it is roughly the size of a chicken you'd see in a park.

You can clip the wings anytime. There is an article in the learning center about wing clipping.
