When, by God,When

When were the chicks fully 'weaned'? When mother hens stop letting the chicks snuggle up with them to sleep and peck the chicks away if the chicks try to take their treats, they are weaned. This can take anywhere between 4 weeks and 4 months depending on the hen. After that my hens usually lay again within a couple of weeks. However, with days shortening and winter coming (in the northern hemisphere at least) laying again could be delayed.

As mentioned, a hard moult can also disturb laying. Hens usually moult after brooding chicks but some moults are harsher than others.

Weaned!? LOL Nope. She never really fit in with the flock, the others just ignore her, so when she hatched these chicks, she made her own little flock. They do everything together.

She isn't showing any signs of molt so far. The other girls are molting tho.
