When can baby duck have a pool.

Ducklings can swim from the first day out of the nest. I use a small 2" high pan sold in the petfood aisle at Walmart. From there mine progress to a black rubber feedtub and then to a black contractor's pan found at Home Depot. The final step is the kiddy pool.

Water is dangerous to ducklings when, A). they can't get out and B). when they can't get dry. These are management issues & with proper management ducklings can have unfettered access to bathing water from the day they're out of the nest & running all over the place with Momma.

I started mine within a week or two old in a shallow pan and then moved up from there. They are 6 weeks old now and in a wading pool. They love every minute of it!! See website for more fun, especially the youtube swimming video a few days ago! Have fun!

Here's a PIC of mine last year.. Just a few days old on a windy but not to chilly day..

This is a $3 Wal-Mart kiddy pool..

They would swim a little then get out and eat..

well at first i just put a little saucer of water in the pen for my baby ducks and they went crazy playing in it so the at about 3 weeks old i put them in the bathroom sink and that was so fun watching them and then a few weeks later i put them in my bathtub!!!!
