I have 5 day old chicks and I was wondering when they can have bread? I also want to know when can they go without a heat light? I have them in my house and I have a wood stove in my living room and so the temp is kept around 84-86.

Personally I won't give bread to a chick, a full size hen I will no problem. Chicks need the starter feed, it has what they need.
Bread would require grit, it's just to much trouble for week old chicks. I follow the rule that when they're fully feathered at 8
weeks, then they can eat what the big girls eat.
Boiled egg would be a better treat for your week olds.
