Hi, we have 2 magpie ducklings, a boy and a girl. What is the age they can swim, in like cold water? They are 5 to 6 weeks old and they are swimming in warm water right now. is that ok? Thanks.

Mine are allowed to paddle in cold water (in a paint tray in their pen) from about 2 weeks old and are allowed to swim properly in cold water from about 4 or 5 weeks old (when i swap the paint tray for a small tub). They swim in lukewarm water (in the bath tub) from 2 days old.

Yours would be able to swim in cold water now. Just make sure they can get out of it easily and have somewhere dry and shelterered to preen and dry off afterwards.

Thank you so much!! Do you know the age of a duck when it can live outside? Our Magpie ducks are 6 weeks old. Thanks.

When my hens hatch out babies they have them down in the creek by day 3 and they all do fine....Just dont let them stay cold.

Thank you everyone for your advice! I really appreciate it
