When Can Guinea Egss Be Eaten?

Probably an odd question but.....................my guineas are about 20-weeks old and have just started laying eggs (yipee). They were on medicated feed only for the first 6 weeks of life and since then have been on medicated feed. On the first day of winter I got my first egg. Are the initial eggs OK to eat or should I let them cycle through a number eggs before consuming them?

If the medication was amprolium, you can eat them now, according to Purina. It makes sense to me, since this medication mostly stays in their gut where it can be picked up by the cocci organism. If it was an antibiotic, the amount you would get should be small if any, and I would not be concerned if they were mine unless I happened to be allergic to the antibiotic.

Thank for the reply. The medicated feed did contain Amprolium and thats the only medication that they were given. I guess we're going to give guinea eggs a shot this weekend! Thank-you
