When can I expect them to start

I have 8 hens that I purchased right at Easter , I assume they were two weeks old when I got them . My question is when can I expect them to start laying eggs and when should I introduce golf balls or fake eggs into their boxes

Different breeds start laying at different times. A good indicator for pullets is when they start 'squatting' for you. Usually they will lay within a month of that

20-24 weeks is normal for most chickens however I had one that waited until 30 weeks.

20-24 weeks is "usual." There are always exceptions.


I put golf balls in the nest boxes around 15 weeks or so. (I was hopeful.)
