I am getting some new chicks next weeks and I am breeding meal worms. I have a lot of different size worms now. Would love to give some to the babies. How old do they have to be to get these treats?

I know when I would feed them to them.....when they started eating them. In the real farm world there is no one to make sure they don't eat a mealworm.

My broody hen was feeding her chicks bugs as soon as she brought them off the nest the first time, at about 3 days old.

Oh Good! I cant wait! Tiny worms for tiny chicks! So fun!

Just make sure they have access to grit to grind those bugs up with.

Ok Thanks! Last time I had chicks I could not find "chick grit". Is sand OK?

Yes. Also, parakeet grit (the kind sold at grocery stores) will work, but you have to find the kind without added calcium.
