My Black Sex links were hatched on Feb 4th and already they're so active and curious. I'd like to give them bits of sweet potato, a spinach leaf maybe. What and when can I give them treaties?? Thanks.

As long as they are eating and drinking good you can give them small amounts in bite sized portions. Try to give some yogurt (plain) a few times before you give them something solid.

Be sure you do not introduce any bacteria that are bad (yogurt is good) that can take over their digestive system.

Thanks for the response. Should I offer grit or sand as well? The 'chicken' grit I bought at the feed store seems like very big pieces for the chicks......does sand work as grit?

I did try a small bit of plain cooked egg and it was hilarious! One would snatch it out of my hand and run with it while everyone else chased her. Of course there was nowhere for her to hide in the brooder, so another chick would snatch it out of her mouth, and so on.....

I think this is better than cable t.v.
