I have two 4 week olds. I know they are late in the year, and it is starting to get cold. Was even a bit chilly during the day. When should I start even thinking about introducing them to the flock and a day outside?
I was thinking 7 weeks, but now I am not sure

7-8 Weeks should be fine, just watch out for the temp.

I've got 3 week old chicks and put them into the coop last weekend with a couple heat lamps. They were jumping and flying to the top of their brood box and outgrowing it as well. i've got plenty of deep liter (sand, shredded paper, wood chips and straw) and they are having a blast running around exploring their new digs.
BTW, I'm in Michigan and my coop is in the horse barn. Just started letting them run around the barn this week and the other two pullets (12 weeks) keep them rounded up pretty well.
