When can I remove chicks from hen?

I have 4 chicks that are now 2 weeks old. Can I remove them from the hen and raise them away from her? Will the hen go crazy with no chicks to raise after having them with her for two weeks?

These are chicks that will be given away and not be part of my flock so the sooner I can get my hen back to the group the better for me.

As any mother would, the hen will be upset for a while. Usually they are over it in a day or so, though it can be a while before they start laying again. Being broody does take a toll on them and they need to build their strengrth back up and get the hormones straight before they start to lay again.

The answer to your question is, you can take them at any time and she will soon get over it.
