I started feeding mealworms to my first chick when he was about a week old. No problems.Title is clear as day.
I do the same as you when I'm able to get them. I never had any chick problems giving them mealworms and in a lot of ways they grow up not being scared of me. Which makes it easier to handle them when I need to give them a check up as they grow up.I've been giving mine live mealworms since 2 days old. Nuthatched is repeating a modern myth. Did you know it is really easy (and practically cost-free) to raise your own mealworms?I do the same as you when I'm able to get them. Do tell..!Did you know it is really easy (and practically cost-free) to raise your own mealworms?
I tried it last year but it stinks for me to continue. Part of my problem was I did it in the winter season. So it seem like it took half a year to even get 1/2 inch mealworms.Did you know it is really easy (and practically cost-free) to raise your own mealworms?
I wrote a thread about it: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/first-attempt-at-mealworm-farming.1350136/Do tell..!
I give them about twice a day. Maybe 1/4 cup split between four chicks.
I would cut back but...
My daughter loves feeding them and I love making her happy![]()
