When can I start giving chicks grit and treats?

I've given mine a scrambled egg, chopped up in the food processor. They go bananas for it! I've started chick grit and got dried meal worms today. I've been hand feeding chick starter/grower, and even though it's in a separate feeder, they go crazy for it as though it's a treat lol.

I am getting 6 Speckled Sussex chicks today and I want to know when they can start having grit and treats? Also, do I give them grit in moderation or free choice? Thanks.

Never. 4-6 months of medicated chick starter, nothing else.
