Hey everyone! Introducing myself. I am new to the group and expecting my first shipment of chicks this week! I am starting a very small backyard flock and receiving 3 buff Orpingtons and 3 Australorps. I selected these as good starter chicks that are on the quieter side because of living in a neighborhood.
I have always wanted to raise chickens but just have not yet had the opportunity or time to devote until now. My kids are growing up and moving out so thought it would be a good time to start.
Little bit about me - I am a nurse practitioner. I live in southeast coastal NC about 15 minutes from Topsail Island. I have been perusing the internet for months and reading books to research all I can about raising chickens. I found BYC on the internet and have been reading so many of the topics discussed.
I am looking forward to being a part of this community!
