Hi. I'm new to the whole chicken family, and I just have a few questions. I have 6 chicks, (4 of the only a few days old, and two are just over a week old) and I was wondering when and how can I take the chicks outside. Right now it is about 56 degrees out, and I really want to take at least my one week olds outside. Any suggestions?

You should probably wait another week or until the weather is warmer like 65-75 degrees.

Ok so it is 80 degrees out right now and I'm going to take the chicks out. I just have a few questions. Should I keep them contained? With what? Or are the ok without anything containing them? Please reply about how you took your chicks out and a few suggestions..? Thanks:D

I took mine out today on a 'field trip' put them in a dog crate and carried it out side, slid the tray out so they could get at the ground. They enjoyed it immensely. Then I slowly slid the tray back in until they hopped back on it, then carried them back inside to their brooder.

I would definitely keep them contained in a fence or cage or crate or something.

If you let them eat grass and stuff they need to have grit too so wither supply it or put them somewhere that they can access dirt on the ground.

Thank you. I took them out and put them in a box we made out of chloroplasts ( cx ). I had them out there for about 15 minutes, and they just loved it! Again, thank you very much. Your advice is aprreciated :)
