When can they have shavings?

We have 2, 1 1/2 week old EEs that are getting big fast. We are going camping in 2 weeks and they are going to be moving outside then. The area thery are going in is in the coop, but in the storage section. We have used it multiple times for broodies, and we raised our ducks in there. I'm just wondering if by at 3 weeks, they can have shavings in the pen with them?

Most people only brood on paper towel for the first couple of days. Once they figure out what food is, they don't bother the shavings too much.

Sure. Some people brood on shavings from day one.

Mine have been on shavings with no problems.

We normally never put them on shavings until they go outside, which is normally 6wks. Thanks for the help.
