when can they stay outside?

my duckies are 18days old and in a 4 1/2'-3' dog kennel. the smell and cleaning the thing out several times a day is killing me. they are just getting there big girl feathers and i live on the olympic penninsula in wa state so the high today might be 47deg. i keep reading that they can go out at 7 wks but they will be really big and stinky by then. when did you all put yours out? i have a duck house with a heat lamp in it. i was wanting to put them out in like 2 more weeks.

I brooded my ducklings from day one outside in a fully insulated coop with a lamp for heat. If you can keep the coop warm enough for them, you can put them outside whenever you want.

so do you still lower the temp 5deg every week?

Yes. I just raised the lamp a bit higher every week to lower the temp.

well maybe i will build them a brooder so they can go outside.
